The Boys’ Swim team had their first weekend of competition two weeks ago and at their home opener. The following team members achieved State Qualifying Standards:
Brian North- 50 Free and 100 Free
Sam Boyd- 200 Free and 100 Free
Jamie Cohen- 50 Free and 100 Breast
Peter Bentele- Diving
Will Vance- 200 Free and 500 Free
Ryan McMonigle- 100 Fly and 100 Back
Sam Disette- 100 Fly
Ian Hulsehof- 500 Free
200 Med Relay: McMonigle, Cohen, Disette, North
200 Free Relay: Vance, Disette, Boyd, North
400 Free Relay: Vance, Zink, Kopecky, Boyd
Meeting the 6A State Consideration time was: Jack Zink- 200 IM and 100 Fly
Kyle Kopecky- 200 IM
Alex Chitaia-50 Free
Henry Wang- 100 Back
Mitch Fisher- 50 Free and 100 Breast Jackson Rhodes- 200 IM
Owen Stamper- 50 Free
Sam Disette- 50 Free
Ian Hulsehof- 200 Free

In their latest weekend of competition, the Mustangs won the Olathe Invitation on Friday night beating 12 other top teams in the area, including rivals Shawnee Mission East and Olathe East. Blue Valley North took first place in the 50 Freestyle (Brian North), the 200 Freestyle Relay (Sam Boyd, Will Vance, Ryan McMonigle, Brian North), the 100 Backstroke (Ryan McMonigle), and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Sam Boyd, Will Vance, Ryan McMonigle, Brian North). The boys successfully added to their State qualified team with an additional 7 events and 3 swimmers. These include; Sam Boyd-200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, Ian Hulshof-200 Freestyle, Sam Disette-100 Fly, Will Vance-100 Freestyle, and Jamie Cohen-500 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. This puts the team at 8 State bound swimmers after their second meet.

The team’s next meet is Saturday, December 20th at Blue Valley North for the Mustang Invitational.
