This year’s soccer season kicked off with a boom as the mustangs took down the then nationally ranked BVNW huskies. The mustangs were able to take down their rivals with a score of 1-0 earlier this year sparking hope for a great season.

The boys hit a few bumps in the road as they played some very tough opponents in the EKL including games against BVSW, BVW, Bishop Miege and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

The mustangs got back on track as they got closer to regional time when they won three of their last four regular season games beating Blue Valley West, Blue Valley, and also Gardener-Edgerton.

Heading into regionals, they drew their first game against the already beaten, Blue Valley Tigers. They took care of the tigers in their first game 2-0 with goals by junior Max Montini and senior Yenev Gershom. They moved on to play Olathe South in the Regional Championship where they lost a heart-breaker, in a 2-1 game.

The mustangs had a very good season finishing with a winning record of 10-8 and proving that they could compete with some of the very good teams that the EKL offers. This mustang soccer team has a bright future ahead of them as they start preparing for their next season.
