Girls Tennis Update


UPDATE 9/22: Varsity won their 11th Eastern Kansas League Championship in a row on September 20 against eight other schools.  Each school entered 3 singles and 3 doubles, accounting for 24 players in the single draw and 48 players in the double draw.  Varsity took first with 72 points, and the second place team earning 46 points. Senior Sayde Hendler/freshman Evelyn Chang took second place in doubles, senior Joanna Blackford/freshman Athena Tran took third place, and senior Sarah Emert/freshman Sydnee Paisner took fifth place.  Sophomore Karen Yan finished in third place in singles and junior Lauren O’Brien finished in fourth place.


At the Pembroke tournament on Saturday September 13, varsity tied for second with Sion.  Sophomore Karen Yan took third overall for first singles.  Junior Lauren OBrien was second overall for second singles.  Senior Sayde Hendler/freshman Evelyn Chang won second at doubles and senior Joanna Blackford/freshman Athena Tran took seventh at first doubles.

JV played against Olathe Northwest, Sion, and Shawnee Mission South, winning 11-0, 12-0, and 9-3 respectively.
