JV Tennis End of Season Recap

Last week marked the close of Blue Valley North’s boys JV Tennis season. The JV tennis team, headed by senior captains Isaac Brinkman and Anish Kumar, had a very busy week, playing several different tournaments.

The Mustangs started their week by winning the JV Tennis EKL’s- an all day tournament on Wednesday, April 29th that BVN hosted. Steven Schmoll placed first in first singles, Issac Brinkman placed first in second singles, Mitch Reinig and Nikhil Biju placed third in first doubles, and Cooper Cook and Ivan Hadzhiev placed first in second doubles.

The JV Tennis team also placed 3rd at the Pembroke JV Invitational held at Pembroke on the same day. Michael Chu placed fifth in first singles, Raghav Gupta placed third in second singled, Dylan Emert and Emerson Womble placed third in second doubles, and Jack Joyce Sean Tudas placed second in second doubles.

The JV Tennis team finished their season by winning their final match on Friday, May 1st, at St. Thomas Aquinas.

While the team is satisfied with their season overall, many are sad to see it come to a close, and anxious for another successful year to start. “Everyone is so passionate about the sport, and that really helped drive our team to a lot of victories. I can’t wait till next season,” said sophomore Jack Ross.

Sophomore Jack Joyce is looking forward to next season also, and hopes it will be just as successful as this years, despite the fact that a large portion of the team this year consisted of seniors soon to graduate. “Next year we’ll have to work really hard to get the results we hope for,” said Joyce.

Overall, the team finished their season with a record of 10-3. “The JV team definitely continued a great tradition of Mustang tennis,” said coach Julie Hubble.
