Mustangs Impress in Rivalry Game

This Friday night, January 30th, one of the best sports rivalries in the state was renewed as the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies came to The Stable to play against the Blue Valley North Mustangs.

This rivalry has brought several crazy moments in its history and there was no doubt that either of these teams were going down without a fight. The defending State Champs had a title to defend, and the Mustangs were trying to get revenge for their loss in last years State Championship game.

The game got off to a good start as the two teams went back and forth, exchanging baskets, and trying to establish a lead. The Mustangs took a three point lead into the half and it seemed as if the Huskies just wouldn’t go away.

Despite the relentless fight from BVNW, the Mustangs were able to maintain their lead throughout the second half and win by a score of 56-43.

Leading scorers were junior Joey Dolan with fourteen, and senior Mychal Masterson with eight.

The Mustangs are now 8-4 on the season and have won four out of their last five games.

They play Bishop Miege this Tuesday night as they try to get revenge for the loss they suffered to the Stags earlier this season.
