Second in the state- boys swim and dive


Congratulations to the Boys Swim and Dive team on an undefeated season and placing second in the 6A State championship. Feb. 21, the boys finished with a final score of 321, falling just three points shy of first place winner Shawnee Mission East’s 324 points. In the day’s first event, the 200 yard medley relay including Sam DiSette, Jamie Cohen, Ryan McMonigle and Brian North broke the state record with a time of 1:34.11. Many other swimmers were able to stand on the podium as well. Will Vance received a fourth place medal in the 200 yard freestyle and Ian Hulshof took eighth. Jamie Cohen placed seventh in the 200 yard individual medley. Brian North took second and Sam DiSette placed third the 50 yard freestyle. Sam DiSette took fifth and Ryan McMonigle swam seventh in the 100 yard butterfly. Will Vance received seventh in the 100 yard freestyle. Ian Hulshof swam fifth in the 500 yard freestyle. Brian North, Will Vance, Sam DiSette and Sam Boyd placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Ryan McMonigle received first in the 100 yard backstroke. Jamie Cohen swam third in the 100 yard breaststroke. Also, achieving 1st Team All-State honors: Brian North, Will Vance, and Ryan McMonigle and 2nd Team All-State honors: Jamie Cohen, Sam Disette, and Ian Hulshof. It was a great day to be a Mustang.
