The opening act

For the spring play this year, drama teacher Max Brown chose a relatively new show- “Act One,” by James Lapine, premiered on Broadway just last year. The adaptation of Moss Hart’s autobiography of the same name featured senior Jacob Flekier as Moss, a poor young man who dreams of getting one of his plays to Broadway but encounters an abundance of difficulties on his road to success.

The play also featured senior Bennett Johnson as Kauffman, Moss’s eccentric co-playwright; junior Lexi Pudvan as Moss’s aunt Kate, who inspired his passion for theater; and seniors Ben Leeper, Samantha Mills and Samuel Bricker as Moss’s difficult but ultimately supportive family.

The show was performed April 8, 9 and 10 in the Little Theater.
