As the school year goes on at Blue Valley North, there are some things that bring all students together all year round. There are school dances, theater plays, and band/choir concerts. However, there is one thing unlike any other. School sports are designed to unite an entire community, so what is the most popular sport here at BVN?
Football vs. Scholars Bowl:
Some would say that this is an easy sweep, however, I believe that one must look at the entirety of a school before automatically guessing. While many support a football team at every school, there are stilla lot of supporters for the Scholars Bowl team. Despite this, football is the most attended and supported team, and I must take football in this match.
Basketball vs. Bowling:
Both basketball and bowling are traditionally successful teams at BVN and this match could lead to a good one with a possible upset! While both sports have consistently run at state, I have to pick basketball in this one. Basketball consists of more fans in attendance and I’m assuming they’re going to sneak by in this matchup.
Baseball vs Cross Country:
Baseball has been on a recent rampage of winning, as they were runner-ups in the state championship last year. With many returning players there has been a developing support from the school for this team. That being said, many multi-sport athletes run Cross Country which brings a certain popularity to the sport. At the end of the day, baseball is the clear winner in this matchup with little difficulty.
Soccer vs Golf:
BVN boys and girls soccer teams are both consistent teams with a good turnout at multiple games. The golf teams, however, are supported throughout the school due to the absences of the golfers in multiple classes. However, the undeniable whiteout game is the reason that soccer is taking this one. The whiteout game is one of the most fun traditions at BVN.
Volleyball vs Softball:
Volleyball is the notorious sport for winning in the previous years at BVN. This is not even a match. Volleyball advances.
Track vs Tennis:
The first upset alert!!! While tennis has consistently been winning like a lot of the other higher-seeded sports, track and field has so many different events with so many skilled athletes. BVN’s track team does very well in a lot of events and even won multiple medals in previous years. Track upsets the 6-seed tennis team.
Swimming vs Wrestling:
Both of these sports have similar structures, as both of them consist of one person competing in their personal race/weight class. The boy’s swim team went undefeated and the girl’s swim team has record-setting swimmers on their team. The wrestling team is a talented group, but swim is going to be the winner in this match.
Cheer vs Dance:
To wrap up the first round of the BVN’s Best Sport tournament, we’ve got a heated matchup as cheer and dance faceoff. Both sports have their own, significant contributions to the school. Both sports compete in their own area of competition and both sports are very talented. With very similar characteristics, there’s an upset alert again! Dance is going to be the superior in this competition because they are involved in more practice than cheer with fewer dancers than cheerleaders and compete very well in Kansas competitions.
