Volleyball player Logan Parks talks about the season the team is having along with some of her personal accomplishments this year.
The BVN volleyball team this year has a record of 34-3, they recently won sub-state and got second place in state. Junior student-athlete, Logan Parks has been playing since the age of six and is now in her third year playing for the Mustangs. Parks has achieved accomplishments, such as Hy-Vee Player of the Week. Parks has been the captain of the varsity team for the past two years and is a leader on the court.
When asked about what volleyball means to her. “Volleyball has always been a huge part of my life just ‘cause my mom has been involved with it her whole life, and I have been involved with it my whole life,” Parks said “It’s been an escape from reality.” Parks says that she loves playing school volleyball because she gets to be around a special group of girls every day. Parks talked about the pressure that comes with being on a winning team .
“I think there is a little bit of pressure, but it’s good pressure,” Parks said. “It’s less of we have to win and more of we want to win so bad, it’s something we all have expectations for.”
Logan reflects on her senior leaders and what she has learned from them saying, “Loyalty and communication. Being able to communicate your needs to each other and figure out what your underclassmen need is important.”
Additionally, Parks recently passed a significant milestone in her volleyball career, her 1,000th kill. “Numbers are just anything, it doesn’t mean a lot to me, it was a cool accomplishment, but it’s more of continuing to get better and continuing to reach more goals,” said Logan.
Matt Allin the head coach for the Mustangs talks about this season and how well-rounded the team is this year. Allin talks about the variety of improvements Parks has made since freshman year and her achievement of 1,000 kills.
“She is also a smart hitter that can score not just swinging really hard, but with shots and tips and using the block,” Allin says.
