We all saw Taylor Swift attend the recent Chiefs versus Bears football game. Sitting in a prime seat next to Donna Kelce, it seems as if recent romance rumors have been confirmed. Or have they… 

For the past two months, there have been rumors surrounding Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Following Swift’s Kansas City stop on her Eras Tour, Kelce made statements that he attempted to give his number to Swift. Rumors were short as many believed Kelce was just joking around. I for one have been up and down with these rumors. One day I believe them, the next I don’t, and here’s why. 

Let me throw out a date. September 12. 

A day of many releases. The day that the Kelce and Swift rumors first broke. What else was released that day you may ask? The new Prime docuseries: Kelce. Coincidence or convenient timing that happened to create a buzz around the last name Kelce?

These rumors bring meaning to an older situation. On September 6, Kelce wore a John Mayer shirt on his podcast New Heights. Only six days before a huge story drops detailing a supposed new relationship. While this may mean nothing, as Kelce did own the shirt and has worn it in the past, Swift is known for her easter eggs. Was this a coincidence or another intentional move? 

Both Travis and Jason have made passing comments the past few weeks eluding to a potential relationship. Direct comments from Kelces’s side with no comment from Swift’s side seemed a little fishy. Why was Kelce seemingly feeding the flames while Swift stayed under the radar? At this point, I was convinced that it was all a PR stunt. 

Then rolls around NFL Sunday. September 24. I first saw the news in a text from my mom, quickly confirmed by a scroll through X and reinforced by live TV footage. Could it be that the rumors were true? Why else would Swift be at the Chiefs game, clad in red and yellow and cheering alongside Kelce’s mom? Swift is a self-proclaimed Eagles fan but appeared to have no hesitation when it came to repping some Chiefs gear. Follow that up with a stop/party at a popular Kansas City restaurant and plenty of photo evidence to fuel this story for weeks to come. 

While I may need a few more pieces of evidence before being convinced Kelce and Swift are more than friends, it appears that my early apprehension may have been unnecessary.
