From musicals to thrillers and from comedy to horror, 2025 was undoubtedly a huge year for the movie industry. Some movies were great, while others missed the mark. Some of the biggest movies that came out in 2025 were “Sinners,” “Wicked For Good,” “K-Pop Demon Hunters” and “Wake Up Dead Man.” Let’s do a deep dive into some of the movies from 2025.
Wake Up Dead Man
“Wake Up Dead Man” is a part of the Knives Out franchise, where Benoit Blanc is a detective. While this movie did keep me on my toes until the end, it was missing a certain humor that the other Knives Out movies had. For example, Blanc appeared way too late and the story unfolded all at once at the end. On the contrary, the filming and lighting were very dramatic and the acting on everybody’s part, especially Daniel Craig’s character, was amazing. Overall, I would recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys mystery thrillers and plot twists with moments of humor. I would give this movie an 8/10.
Sinners
“Sinners” was a excellent movie to have been released early on in the year. It set the year to have high expectations with some very impressive acting and filmmaking. I enjoyed every minute of “Sinners,” and it made me stressed and intrigued for the entire movie. While it was a longer movie, there was never a slow moment in it. Michael B. Jordan did a great job with his acting in both characters and the camera work made everything more dramatic. Overall, I would recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys dark and mysterious films. I would give this movie a 9/10.
K-Pop Demon Hunters
“K-Pop Demon Hunters” was clearly made for children and people who enjoy K-pop. I am not a fan of K-pop music, so the music in this movie didn’t resonate with me. However, I liked the fact that it showed how K-pop stars are reflected in real life. Personally, I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys K-Pop music and culture, but if you don’t, you might not enjoy it as much. I would rate this movie a 6/10 purely because I don’t enjoy the music that was in it.
Wicked: For Good
“Wicked: For Good” was a disappointing movie. When the first movie was released, it was outstanding to say the least. The acting in the first movie was very good. The music was awesome, and “Wicked: For Good” just couldn’t match the energy from the first one. There were a few songs that were very good, such as “No Good Deed.” The movie was very powerful, but many of the scenes were underwhelming and felt like they lacked strong, emotional moments. With actors like Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh having singing roles, the songs with their characters lacked musical skill. Overall, I would recommend this movie to lots of people if they aren’t a “Wicked” musical superfan. If they are a big “Wicked” fan, I would recommend that they don’t set their expectations too high. I would rate this movie an 8/10 because the acting was still captivating but lacked in aspects such as music.
I was not expecting 2025 to have many amazing movies, and yet it pleasantly surprised me. From movie musicals like “K-Pop Demon Hunters” and “Wicked: For Good” to thrillers and mysteries like “Wake Up Dead Man” and “Sinners”, 2025 has proven to be one of the best years in the decade so far.
